A workplace designed to support both concentration and exchange.
Atelier 27 is a 3,200 sq.ft creative workplace in Koramangala designed around the changing rhythms of studio life. The brief called for an environment that could accommodate focused individual work, informal collaboration, client meetings and larger team discussions without fragmenting the space into isolated rooms.
The design responds through clear zoning, warm materiality and carefully controlled transparency — creating a workplace that feels open without sacrificing privacy or acoustic comfort.
Workplace Strategy & Spatial Framework
Tailored for a multidisciplinary creative practice, the spatial layout prioritizes acoustic equilibrium, continuous sightlines, and generous collaborative thresholds.
One studio. Different modes of working.
Focus
Quiet workstations positioned away from circulation routes with acoustic side screens.
Collaborate
Shared standing tables and material pin-up review zones for spontaneous team workshops.
Meet
Enclosed and semi-enclosed meeting environments wrapped in smoked acoustic glass.
Gather
A flexible central forum for presentations, studio-wide townhalls and client receptions.
Openness organised through rhythm and repetition.
The main workspace is structured through long shared tables, integrated lighting and consistent material lines rather than conventional cubicle systems.
Low storage elements define individual working zones while preserving long sightlines across the studio.

Spaces designed for work that happens between meetings.
Not every conversation requires a meeting room. Informal project tables, pin-up surfaces and soft seating areas are distributed through the studio to support quick exchanges without interrupting focused work zones.

Privacy without visual isolation.
Meeting rooms use smoked and reeded glass to maintain visual connection to the wider studio while controlling privacy and acoustic transfer.
Integrated curtains allow spaces to shift between open collaboration and more confidential client discussions.
Double-glazed acoustic partitions delivering Rw 44dB sound attenuation
Quiet is a workplace material too.
Acoustic comfort was treated as part of the architecture rather than an applied technical layer. Felt ceiling baffles, upholstered surfaces, soft flooring zones and strategic separation between collaboration and focus areas reduce reverberation across the open studio.
Ceiling absorption
Linear charcoal acoustic baffles suspended between structural concrete joists.
Soft surface zones
Dense wool upholstery and acoustic wall drapery absorbing high-frequency chatter.
Meeting-room isolation
Concealed acoustic drop-seals and double perimeter gaskets on all timber doors.
Circulation buffering
Storage partitions act as spatial baffles separating main walkways from desk clusters.
A more composed environment for conversation and presentation.
The client room uses darker materials and controlled lighting to create a more focused atmosphere than the open studio. Integrated display surfaces and concealed storage allow the room to move between formal presentations, workshops and material reviews.

Task light, ambient light and atmosphere working together.
Linear task lighting provides consistent illumination across work surfaces while concealed architectural lighting softens circulation and meeting areas. Warmer pools of light identify social and client-facing zones without relying on decorative fixtures throughout the studio.
Large north-facing windows supplemented by 4000K neutral-white task strips.
2700K low-glare perimeter coves transitioning the studio into an intimate salon for late critiques.
Brand expressed through material and proportion rather than graphics.
Atelier 27 avoids overt branded surfaces. Instead, the organisation's identity is expressed through consistency — repeated joinery details, restrained typography, material choices and the rhythm of the workplace itself.
